Meet the designers behind Hatobu
Watch the video to get a general vibe of who we are. We really love to share knowledge and show people how fun and educational it is to just make stuff (not only sewing). We have hosted many creative educational workshops for both students and children.
So, we're both students... We love making things. We've started several other startups with our own money in the past, and let's just say we know how expensive that is... We try to make a good product, with attention to sustainability, design, testing, production, and logistics. We're crazy enough to do everything ourselves. We have so much more we want to create and show the world.
Your support helps two indie designers postpone their studies a little longer <3

I have been making custom Bike Bags for people over the entire worldwide since 2019. Under the name Merit Gear, I design systems and processes and try to practically adapt them in real life. Current Focus: Parametric pattern design for soft goods, automated cutting, and sorting of 2D patterns. Goal: Trying to lower the price for custom made products, whilst still maintaining custom and quality. Reducing textile waste by Made to Order business model. Merit Gear is the practical application of this development. I do a lot of research and development and sell Bikepacking Bags and Gear to fund this development. Handmade in the Netherlands by Mickey. Hobby student during the day and professional Sewing Machine Operator at night.

I’m a freelance design engineer and maker currently studying in Delft. My work ranges from electronics and product design to machine building and small-scale manufacturing. I love turning ideas into tangible products people can actually use. I’m usually at my happiest when I’m soldering, coding, sketching, milling, or welding. That’s when hours disappear for me. Thats also where most of my personal projects live: where technical problems meet design. Outside of work on more technical ideas, I’m into linoleum printing, leather-working, and analog photography slow crafts that balance my faster, technical work and shape how I think about my surroundings.
